Connectors
Find a connector, see how users authenticate to it, and call endpoints no tool covers.
A connector describes one app, such as slack or github: its API host, how a user
authenticates, and the tools an agent can call. The catalog ships more than 1,500 built-in
connectors, maintained by Dexby.
Missing an app? Add it to your project as an imported REST API or an MCP server, or ask us to build it. See Custom tools.
Find a connector
| Where | Shows |
|---|---|
| The public connectors page | Every built-in connector with its tools. No sign-in. |
| Build → Catalog in the dashboard | Built-in connectors plus the project's own, with setup buttons. |
GET /api/catalog | Built-in connectors. Public. Filters: query, category, popular=true. |
GET /api/catalog/:connectorId | One built-in connector with its tools and triggers. Public. |
GET /v1/connectors | What your project can connect. Needs DEXBY_API_KEY. |
curl "https://api.dexby.ai/api/catalog?query=crm"Search reads each connector's keywords and each tool's use cases, so a request in plain words ("add a deal in the CRM") finds the right tool. See Public endpoints.
Categories: analytics, commerce, communication, crm, developer-tools, finance,
marketing, productivity, security, social, storage.
A connector's verification says how far it was checked: tested (tools ran on a real account),
reachable (the API host answered without credentials) or unverified. Test the tools you depend on.
Auth methods
A connector declares one or more auth methods. An auth config picks one.
| Type | What the user does |
|---|---|
oauth2 | Signs in at the provider and approves access. |
api_key | Enters one API key or token. |
oauth2_client_credentials | Enters a client id and secret. Dexby gets and renews the token. |
custom | Fills in the fields the connector declares, such as a store URL and key. |
aws_iam | Enters an access key pair and region. Requests are signed with SigV4. |
Credentials are encrypted before they are stored. See Security.
Tool labels
Every tool has an effect and a data classification. Sessions filter on both.
Tools classified phi exist only in a project that
handles health data.
| Effect | Meaning | Default from method |
|---|---|---|
read | Reads data, changes nothing. | GET, HEAD |
write | Creates or changes data. | POST, PUT, PATCH |
destructive | Deletes data or cannot be undone. | DELETE |
| Classification | Examples |
|---|---|
standard | Weather, public search results, ids |
pii | Names, emails, messages, account handles |
phi | Patient records, diagnoses, prescriptions |
The dashboard shows these as General, Personal data and Health data. A tool with no
classification is treated as pii.
Proxy unmodeled endpoints
When no tool covers an endpoint, send a raw request with the user's stored credential. Dexby places the credential as the connector's tools do.
curl "https://api.dexby.ai/v1/tools/proxy" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $DEXBY_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"connectorId": "slack",
"userId": "user_123",
"endpoint": "/conversations.info",
"query": { "channel": "C1234567890" }
}'endpoint is a path relative to the connector's API host, or, for a connector whose credential
names its host (a store URL, a region), relative to that host. method defaults to GET. The proxy
refuses other hosts (403 FORBIDDEN_ENDPOINT) and redirects. Fields and errors are in
Execute.
